Oasis OH-1 Original Guitar Humidifier.

The body of the Blue Oasis Guitar Humidifier is made from a specially designed fabric that allows water vapor (but not water) to pass through it. As the vapor transmission takes place, a vacuum is created and Oasis shrinks to compensate for the loss of water. By watching the Oasis humidifier shrink, you can determine when it is ready for refill. When refilling, you don't have to guess when it is full. Simply unscrew the black cap, fill with water to the top of the container and replace the cap. Once sealed, the watertight container is your first line of defense against leaks. Humigel, the super absorbent polymer crystals inside the Oasis Humidifier, are your second line of defense. Humigel captures up to 500 times its weight in water in an absorbent gel matrix.Like other sound hole humidifiers, Oasis fits between the strings of your instrument. Oasis OH-5 Plus+ Humidifier.

While the original Blue Oasis provides sufficient humidity in many environments, it is not effective everywhere. The humidity demands of the desert, mountain states or frigid north exceed the humidification capacity of the device. For this reason, Oasis developed the Oasis Plus+ humidifier. The Plus+ is the same size and shape as the original blue Oasis, but is made of a different material that provides 50% more humidity output.Because the Oasis Plus+ Humidifier is the same size as the original Blue Oasis and it has 50% greater humidity output, it will be necessary to refill the Oasis Plus+ more frequently than the original Blue Oasis.If one is using a hygrometer, Oasis recommends that the Oasis Plus+ be used when the room humidity is below 25%. The original Blue Oasis should be used when the surrounding room humidity is between 25-40%. Above 40%, you don't need to use an instrument humidifier.It is important to also to monitor the humidity inside your instrument case. The huge success of the original Blue Oasis sound-hole humidifier has brought many inquiries about ways to provide humidification for other instruments including violins, violas, cellos, mandolins, ukuleles, jazz guitars and guitars with flat top cases.After careful consideration, Oasis decided the best approach to solving this challenge was to develop a humidifier that attaches to the inside of the instrument case. Finding a secure way to attach the humidifier to the inside of the case, and still have it easily removed and reattached, was no small challenge.With proven technology, the Blue Oasis humidifier, Oasis inserted two neodymium magnets in the seam of the humidifier. The magnets then attach to the instrument case using either a steel belt style clip or a stainless steel strip with adhesive backing. The belt style clip fits over the side of the case and provides a flat vertical surface for the magnets to adhere. The adhesive backed stainless steel strip allows for either vertical or horizontal attachment anywhere there is a flat surface inside the case. An advantage of this type of humidifier is the flexibility to position the humidifier in a wide variety of locations within your musical instrument's case.A 10cc. syringe is also included. The syringe will increase the user's control during filling or refilling the humidifier. Since the Oasis humidifier holds about 32cc's of water, it will take 3+ syringes of water to fill the first time. After that, refills should only take 1+ syringe of water. Oasis OH-4 Humigel Replacement Kit.

This kit contains a small package of Humigel crystals sufficient to refill 4-6 times, instructions, a .15 cc scoop to accurately measure the amount of crystals needed and a 10cc. syringe. Including the syringe in this package will both reduce crystals loss and encourage the use of distilled water for filling the humidifier. The dry crystals should retain their potency for 5 years or more. One replacement kit should last for several years even if you have several humidifiers to refill annually.The Humigel crystals inside the Oasis guitar humidifier are designed to last a long time. There are, however, situations where replacement is needed. Here are some examples:A purchaser, not familiar with the product, might look inside and not see the crystals, turn the humidifier upside down spilling the dry crystals out. Humigel crystals absorb 500 times their weight in water so the volume of dry crystals needed in the humidifier is extremely small (.3 cubic centimeters to be exact), making them almost invisible at the bottom of the humidifier. When this happens, Oasis recommends that the buyer shake the remaining crystals out and add two level scoops (.15 cc's each) in the top to replace the lost crystals. The humidifier needs .3cc's of crystals (no more/no less).A second common problem comes when the purchaser tries to fill the humidifier too rapidly and washes the crystals out. When this happens, Oasis recommends rinsing the humidifier thoroughly with water and then adding two scoops of crystals.Oasis recommends that the Oasis only be held by the colored shrink tubing located at the top or bottom. The middle portion is made of a soft breathable fabric. Squeezing the humidifier by the middle when the cap is removed will cause water and crystals to be ejected. If this happens, wash the inside of the humidifier thoroughly to clean out all crystals and refill with two scoops of dry crystals.Lastly, unless you live in a place where the humidity is low all year long, most people use the humidifier during the fall and winter. When not in use for a long period of time, the humidifier will completely dry out and the crystals will cake up. If you have been using distilled water, you can re-start the existing crystals with a small amount of warm distilled water to prepare them to absorb water again. If you have not been using distilled water, Oasis recommends that you clean out the humidifier and replace the crystals. Dissolved minerals in the water will eventually clog both the fabric and the crystals reducing product performance.. ...details
